Salene Souza
The Sanctuary, Lane Cove’s newest associate is Salene Souza. Salene first came to Australia from her native Brazil in 2001, and immediately fell in love with Sydney and our Australian culture and lifestyle and began making plans to live here permanently.
We are very excited and proud that Salene has chosen The Sanctuary ~ Lane Cove as her new therapy office where she is providing short and long-term psychotherapy services for clients of all ages including children.
Salene is a psychotherapist with many years of professional experience and training gained both in Brazil and Australia. She spent three years working with disadvantaged children in a primary school in Brasilia where she developed many skills for working with all types of childhood issues and learning ways to support children in building self-esteem.
For the last 5 years, she has been involved most specifically in the study and practice of EMDR, Psychodrama and Brainspotting. In Brazil, she is recognized as an E.M.D.R Facilitator and Supervisor, which places her in the highest category of clinical training and expertise attainable world-wide for that technique.
E.M.D.R and Brainspotting although quite different from one another, are rapid-information processing therapy techniques developed to resolve trauma, grief, anxiety, addictions and many other issues.
Salene has also developed her own unique approach which expertly combines Psychodrama and Brainspotting and also Psychodrama and E.M.D.R. to gently help children who are struggling with problems such as trauma, depression, anxiety, family breakdown, addicted parents, divorce and a range of mental health difficulties.
Salene loves to work as a psychotherapist as her passion is to encourage and support individuals while together they develop the skills to build healthy lives and relationships with themselves and other while resolving unhealed issues from the past.
She loves to join with her clients as they move through their pain and begin to enjoy their journey of self-discovery, and consequently, to observe how powerful they are as they achieve the changes in their lives that they desire.
