The Strategic Developmental Model for E.M.D.R. and The New Quantum Interweave©
Maureen Kitchur MSW, RSW, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is a psychotherapist with a reputation for successfully treating complex, high-needs clients who have not responded to previous therapy.
She developed her innovative treatment model in the mid 1990’s while working with poor indigenous women in Canada - many of whom routinely endured horrifying abuse from birth onward.
Since these women lacked sufficient funding and had such high treatment needs, Maureen began to develop her SDM as a way to more efficiently offer comprehensive healing than was previously possible in a short time frame.
She fine-tuned the model in practice with other high-needs and high-risk clients, including forensic and complex trauma victims.
By 1999, the “Kitchur model” began to draw wide-spread attention in North America, as it opened the way to developmental thinking in the EMDR world. Clients’ needs could now be addressed to facilitate developmental “catch-up” at the same time that powerful trauma healing was occurring.
The Strategic Developmental Model incorporates concepts from Ericksonian hypnotherapy, the neurobiology of attachment and attunement, and a powerful developmental framework in which to strategize treatment solutions, all within an EMDR framework.
Building on that foundation, Maureen has recently incorporated exciting developments in quantum science into the SDM. Her new cognitive and spiritual interweave teaches a 6 Step quantum strategy to clients, using focused intention and a short-cut into the alpha brain wave state, to boost clients to higher levels of personal effectiveness, power and peace.
