Introductory Evenings Every Wednesday.

At The Sanctuary ~ Lane Cove, we believe that for full resolution of an unhealed issue to occur, it must be addressed on all four levels of consciousness; mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual.

When we talk to our clients we always ask them if they have tried other means to deal with their issues before coming to us. Many people have. We always find the same thing. They have addressed one or maybe two levels but never all four on each issue.

We believe this is the key. When an issue is addressed and resolved on EACH LEVEL it is truly resolved and dealt with for the last time!

We are now conducting education and discussion groups each Wednesday evening in Lane Cove, from 7.00 pm till 9.00 pm where we will show a video (no more than an hour) about an area many people have issues with; abuse, alcoholism, addiction, depression, anxiety, etc and then hold a discussion about the material presented.

Admission: $10.00 - Please contact us to book your place or for more information on our upcoming topics or DVD's.

Our intention on these evenings is not to do group therapy, or process issues, but rather to provide answers to many of the questions you may have about areas of your life that are not functioning as you would like them to. We will also share with you some of the tools and techniques that we have available to support you to resolve and heal what concerns you on all four levels.

Mental:

Before we undertake any process it is often important for us to get an understanding of the concepts involved, the reasons for doing it, and the likely outcomes. If we don’t get this then it is often difficult for us to get motivated to pursue this course of action. Also, when we have had bad things happen we are more cautious about quick-fixes or “yet another answer”. It is important to get all the information you need before you make a decision about a course of action before you embark on that journey.

Often, without our conscious involvement our minds are constantly chattering about this and that. Sometimes, it seems there is a whole committee meeting up there with ongoing debate about all manner of things. Often, these conversations can be quite self-defeating. Like a guinea-pig on a workout wheel, often the same thoughts gone on and on with no resolution and yet we may find it hard to stop it.

Hearing things from another perspective can be very helpful in working out how to address our issues and there are many techniques that we can learn that will enable us to cope better in many different situations on a mental level.

Having a positive attitude towards life and our issues can also be very helpful. We will show videos which explain the cyclical nature of ‘pattern repetition’ in our lives and how these patterns are passed down from generation to generation until someone resolves it. We will explain about how to interrupt these patterns and create a choice-point where we can take control of what action we want to take next rather than always be thrown into the pattern without conscious awareness.

Therefore on the first Wednesday of each month we will be screening a DVD about some of these mental aspects, answering any questions, and then having a group discussion.

Emotional:

We are inherently emotional beings. Emotions are a very important part of our lives as they let us know what is happening internally and externally. For some of us at times, either because we never learned skills in dealing with them or because our childhoods were too overwhelming we don’t know how to cope with or control them.  For others their emotions have been so successfully controlled and suppressed that we have trouble accessing them at all. Their lives are lived without the richness that a life connected to feelings provides.

Wherever you are on this scale the ultimate goal for all of us is to have balance in our lives so that we are not over or under reacting to situations. So that we can have happy, healthy, balanced relationships with ourselves and those around us.

There are many ways to safely access and deal with our emotions. Yet as we are all individuals some processes resonate and work with us better than others.

Therefore on the second Wednesday of each month we will be screening a DVD about some of these emotional techniques, answering any questions, and then having a group discussion.

Physical:

Many of us have become trapped in our intellect and disconnect from our physical selves, which separates us from the wisdom of our body. We then remain unaware of the complex interaction between our body and minds and how we can manage and sustain these in a healthy balanced way.

When we are overwhelmed by emotions or we suppress our issues or emotions this physical ‘stress’ on our bodies lowers our immune system and makes us more susceptible to dis-ease.

We also store unresolved emotional energy in our bodies. That is why many of us will get emotional during a massage because the therapist may reconnect us with these suppressed and unresolved issues.

There are many techniques available for reconnecting people to their bodies and then safely dealing with these unresolved emotions or events.

Therefore on the third Wednesday of each month we will be screening a DVD about some of these physical techniques, answering any questions, and then having a group discussion.

Spiritual:

Spirituality comes in many forms. For some it is in a formal religion for others it is an intangible yet certain belief that there is more to life that what we simply see on the surface – a connection to something whether inside or outside of us that gives us meaning and strength.

When trauma, abuse, grief, illness, or loss happens to us we tend to disconnect from ourselves because our emotion is too painful. Or we disconnect from others because contact with others has lead to grief and pain, we lose connection on many and sometimes every, level.

So recovery on a spiritual level involves re-connection - with ourselves, our families and friends, our neighbourhood, the wider community, our nation, our planet, our Universe.

When we talk about Spirituality it can be on any of these levels. It is also about Spiritual development, evolution and connection. Moving from a place of feeling like a victim to stepping into the power of asking this question of ourselves - ‘if this event/situation was happening FOR me rather than TO me, what are the opportunities present for healing a place inside of me that still hurts.”

Therefore on the last Wednesday of each month we will be screening a DVD about some of these spiritual concepts, answering any questions, and then having a group discussion.
